The life of a fellow Italian, Bruno, an alcoholic tramp whose days are numbered. Bruno decides to make an Italian tourist the custodian of his memories – also hoping to leave some trace of his life – and via a series of documents and long talks tells the story of his life. Not so much a life as a roller-coaster ride from heaven to hell. Twenty years old Bruno goes to Paris, to his uncle and aunt, who run a famous restaurant. Here, thanks to his spirit of initiative, he manages to get noticed by Monsieur Marcel, a powerful business man who later hires him in his international corporate advisory firm. That marks the start of the stellar rise of Bruno, who becomes the personal assistant of Marcel, with whom he travels throughout the world. Together with him he also undertakes hazardous missions. This period Bruno meets the key people in his life, Joshua – ex-Mossad agent, business partner and the friend who will watch over Bruno until his death – and Michelle, the first of the women, his passion, who will ultimately be his downfall, and his greatest and perhaps only true love. Michelle is also a cause of desperation: after a blazingly intense relationship she disappears, after warning him never to look for her. Despite this devastating event Bruno continues his other passion, i. e. his professional ascent. But he becomes entangled with another woman – Carla. Also this relationship coming to an abrupt. After this disappointment, Bruno decides to transfer to New York, where he agrees to enter into a colossal business deal set up by Sal G., a powerful Italo-American boss. Sal G. puts him charge of Operation Cuba (codename OC) – a top-secret plan aimed at gaining possession of Cuba after the death of Fidel Castro. Bruno involves Joshua, who will handle the organization’s security. Clockwork, however, is not immune to foreign bodies. Another love story will be the detonator for Bruno’s devastating plunge into hell…
